LAURA MURILLO HART
foggy notion physical theatre
Foggy Notion Physical Theatre is a contemporary physical theatre company devoted to creating original, devised works that blend clown, movement, music, and ensemble-driven storytelling. Rooted in the absurd and fantastical, our work uses clown as a playful foundation to tell deeply human stories—stories of longing, resilience, connection, and transformation.
Our theatrical language draws from mask work, mime, puppetry, acrobatics, dance, and the grotesque, crafting richly physical and visually expressive worlds. Humor and vulnerability exist side by side in our work, inviting audiences to laugh, reflect, and recognize themselves within heightened, imaginative forms. Guided by curiosity and embodiment, our collaborative process honors the poetic, strange, and transformative potential of the body in motion.
Foggy Notion Physical Theatre creates work with a touring life in mind and has shared performances with communities across the country. Our production As the World Rises and Falls has toured nationally twice, earning sold-out performances and strong audience response. Additional works include Dark Side of the Rainbow, a playful and surreal mashup of The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. The company is currently developing The Last Billionaire on Earth, a new original work that will have its world premiere in 2026.
Founded and led by Laura Murillo Hart, Foggy Notion Physical Theatre collaborates with a rotating ensemble of artists. Core ensemble members include Liv Shine, Mark Farrell, and Ruby Vallejo. Together, we are committed to bold, imaginative storytelling and to creating work that serves community while celebrating the beautifully absurd act of being human.
